kelly slater was by far the best surfer in the water today - the one barrel he made may have been the craziest wave ive ever seen live....
some are slowed down and blurred due to the lack of light - i think i should have slowed the shutter a bit more actually, but is kinda cool...

since building an arc today would be more possible and appropraite today than shooting pix

the dude on the bomb right and broken board are the same - all those dudes helped him out of the water - i think it is that dude laurie towner - got knocked out a bit, and heard he does not remember it...

i think this is the second round jamie oʻbrian - who usually is the best guy in the water here when the contest is not going...
i need to dig through and pick out some good ones - dusty paine is an amazing surfer, and chris ward had 2 completely amazing waves - i think i had some good shots of both.....

while riding around the south coast to the windward side, this popped into my brain - specifically seeing allen ginsberg sing it years and years ago.... not sure why, but it was there, and stuck a bit in the mind... looked it up and saw this, thought it was cool....
i think an amazing arrangement of words....

didnt shoot today, surfed a fun wave tho...

and yes the first one - the dude is riding an sup - which seems wrong, but also an extremely difficult thing...

there were tons of people shooting off the wall from the water - and tons of pros pulling into closeouts....
a few were made though, those were amazing... most of the rights are off the wall, some are backdoor, the lefts are pipe, or some of the lefts are guys going left at off the wall into backdoor - a crazy thing to do from what i can tell.
i like the blurry one. the one right after the blurry one is the same wave in focus.
the contest starts monday i think... building the towers now....
oh yeah, and the wave on top of the bloody head is the causal wave...
lots of people get hurt out there... it really is intense...
