kelly slater was by far the best surfer in the water today - the one barrel he made may have been the craziest wave ive ever seen live....
some are slowed down and blurred due to the lack of light - i think i should have slowed the shutter a bit more actually, but is kinda cool...

I too watched online. That kid John Slater sure knows how to fucking blow the shit up on a surfboard. I cannot believe that Backdoor barrel (nice photo BTW) he picked up during the semifinal. Did it look like a closeout to you on the beach? Unreal I say. Have you ventured out to the Pipe yet? Keep shooting bra.

E - i think i turned away on that wave, assuming it was a closeout... the whole beach and houses behind erupted when he popped out... was wild...
have not surfed pipe yet - i should have right after the contest, was uncrowded - but did not have a board with me, plus no where on the bike to stash the camera... so has to be one or the other...
i need to shoot pipe too from the water, but is still brown water there, so staying away for a bit...
did surf out front yesterday, was ok, not great, but a few fun ones without too murky water...
i should have the rack on the bike tomorrow, at least i hope - so will be able to surf anywhere anytime without having to rely on rides from other people....
